Economics is often misunderstood as the “dismal science,” yet I view it as a powerful lens for understanding the choices individuals, businesses, and governments make every day. Many students enter economics courses with misconceptions that create barriers to learning, but I see these as opportunities to spark curiosity and build lasting economic literacy.
Whether teaching in-person, hybrid, or online formats, my philosophy centers on three goals: (1) making economics accessible and relevant, (2) fostering inclusive and engaged learning, and (3) equipping students with the skills and confidence to apply economic reasoning in their personal, professional, and civic lives. I am enthusiastic about teaching across the curriculum, from introductory principles courses that build economic literacy to advanced electives and seminars that cultivate independent inquiry and critical analysis.
At Oklahoma State University (2018–2024), I was twice nominated for the Greiner Outstanding Teaching Award. My teaching evaluations consistently demonstrate strong quantitative ratings and positive qualitative feedback. Students highlight my ability to make complex material accessible through clear explanations, structured reinforcement, and real‑world applications, as well as the inclusive and supportive classroom environment I create.
